For the Ansel Adams Wilderness Expedition, we recommend that backpackers bring the following essential equipment:

  1. Backpack (50-70L capacity, with rain cover)
  2. Tent (3- or 4-season, lightweight, with stakes and guylines)
  3. Sleeping Bag (rated for temperatures in the range of 30-40°F)
  4. Sleeping Pad (inflatable or foam)
  5. Hiking Boots or Shoes (waterproof and broken in)
  6. Clothing:
  7. Moisture-wicking base layers (top and bottom)
  8. Insulating mid-layers (fleece or down)
  9. Waterproof and breathable outer layers (jacket and pants)
